Mating Morphos
This pair of Blue Morpho butterflies (Morpho peleides) were mating by the side of a dark pool, oblivious of the feet of the passing visitors a few inches away. Their disposition – with its ‘push me-pull you’ interleaved symmetry – and colouring are exquisite. Selected for the front cover and December's image in the Society of Biology 2012 Calendar
